In a 15-minute walking distance from the houses there is a beach which is slightly known by tourists and conserves its natural beauty.This beach is called Kaminia and it was traditionally and almost exclusively visited by the residents of Perachori, the old centre of Ithaki.There is a dirt road leading to the beach but it is comfortable for cars and ideal for hiking. The water is clean,and the beach is sandy and pebbly with small dwellers of the sea such as fish,crabs and shells.We have to confess that we spend our scorching summer afternoons there swimming and eating.
