Diomedes Villas is a family business targeting people seeking for relaxation in a friendly environment.
The land where the houses are situated is a property of Diomedes Manias, a man born and raised in the island of Ithaca. The specific location used to be his favorite spot, spending hours gazing the port of Ithaki and the sun rising from the sea. Diomedes’ dream was to build a house and live at this wonderful location. His dream was realized in 2008 by his son, who built three houses instead of one.
Three houses, Naias, Eos and Nereis, made of stone extracted from Diomedes' land are surrounded by olive trees, rocks and flowers. The houses are located in the countryside close to a quiet beach, ten minutes away from the center of Ithaki by car, to a place that combines the beauty of the Ionian Islands with Ithaki's traditional character.
Furthermore, the facilities of the houses provide a luxurious epxerience of privacy and leisure. The idyllic scenery as well as the comforts of the houses assure a unique experience confirming that the destination is worth the journey.
During the construction of the houses the two points on which special emphasis was placed were the privacy and comfort of our guests.
Privacy
Privacy was based on the location and the big exterior of the houses.The houses are located away from the centre and the site is rural. As a result, the guest comes across mainly local farmers who cultivate vineyards and olive trees and shepherds with their sheep. The exterior, enclosed with railings, consists of gardens, flower beds and stone yards and it provides the guests with personal, secluded space to enjoy recreation and hapiness with their families. Also, it is enriched with bushes, trees and climbing plants so that the absolutely private places such as the pool, wouldn't be seen by the guests of the other houses and from the road. In addition, visibility from the road is reduced because the houses are constructed high above the level of the road.
Comfort
Comfort is based on the big exterior and interior of the houses. The interior consists of big bedrooms (20 and 25 square metres) and big living rooms and bathrooms (one bathroom for each bedroom). Comfort is enhanced by the barbecue and the ovens which can be used any time during the day to have an outdoor binge in nature and by the private covered parking lot for two cars. Also, there are two entrances to each house, one for the cars and one for the pedestrians. Here, we would like to mention a special factor which differentiates our houses and makes them offer comfort to the guests' senses and soul. This factor is the view; the guest of each one of our houses is able to be engrossed in the vast blue sea and the green patriarchical mountains, to see the boats in the port and to hear the sounds of the birds.
Kaminia Beach
In a 15-minute walking distance from the houses there is a beach which is slightly known by tourists and conserves its natural beauty.This beach is called Kaminia and it was traditionally and almost exclusively visited by the residents of Perachori, the old centre of Ithaki.There is a dirt road leading to the beach but it is comfortable for cars and ideal for hiking. The water is clean, and the beach is sandy and pebbly with small dwellers of the sea such as fish, crabs and shells. We have to confess that we spend our scorching summer afternoons there swimming and eating.
